STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to accept the appropriation of a $450,000 state grant to support the development of the Duluth Technology Village. The grant is to be used to establish international partnerships, attract software businesses, recruit and train workers for the software industry, and support a software business incubator. The resolution further commits a local match, and authorizes the execution of agreements which are necessary to implement the project. The city will use as the local match the $1,700,000 being paid by the Duluth Economic Development Authority for the lease of approximately 10,000 square feet of space for 15 years in the Technology Village project. This lease agreement was authorized by DEDA at its November 16, 1999 meeting, and by the City Council on November 22, 1999.
