AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 50 OF THE DULUTH CITY CODE 1959, AS AMENDED, ZONING DISTRICT MAP NO. 33 AS CONTAINED IN THE APPENDIX TO CHAPTER 50, TO PROVIDE FOR THE RECLASSIFICATION OF 88 ACRES OF LAND, LOCATED NORTH OF ARROWHEAD ROAD, EAST OF RICE LAKE ROAD AND WEST OF SAWYER AVENUE EXTENDED, FROM R-1-b RESIDENTIAL AND S SUBURBAN TO IT INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY (MINNESOTA POWER).

BY PRESIDENT GILBERT:

The city of Duluth does ordain:

Section 1. That Plate No. 33 of the zoning district map as contained in the Appendix to Chapter 50 of the Duluth City Code, 1959, is amended to read as follows:

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and publication.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This zoning ordinance amendment provides for the rezoning from R-1-b, Residential and S Suburban to IT Industrial Technology, 88 acres of land owned by Minnesota Power and located northeast of the intersection of Arrowhead Road and Rice Lake Road.

The purpose of the rezoning is to make approximately half of the Minnesota Power property available for the restricted/limited light industrial development. At this time the anticipated development is for information/data processing facility.
