RESOLUTION ISSUING A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE TO VARIOUS LICENSEES.

BY COUNCILOR EDWARDS:

BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby issues the following temporary on sale nonintoxicating malt liquor licenses, subject to departmental approvals:

Copasetic Softball Team, Wheeler Field, for July 22 & 23, 2000, with Paul King, manager.

Duluth Softball Players Association, Wheeler Field, for July 8 & 9, 2000, with Darrell Eckenberg, manager.

Duluth Softball Players Association, Wheeler Field, for August 4-6, 2000, with Sandy Armstrong, manager.

Duluth Softball Players Association, Wheeler Field, for August 16-29, 2000, with Sandy Armstrong, manager.

Woodland Fastpitch Association, (Jimmy Herold Memorial Tournament), Anoka and Woodland Avenue, for July 8 & 9, 2000, with Brett Klosowski, manager.


Alcohol, Gambling, Tobacco Commission discussion of 6/13/00:

**COPASETIC SOFTBALL TEAM, WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 22 & 23, 2000, WITH PAUL KING, MANAGER.

Paul King was present on behalf of the application. Mr. King reviewed that this was the 32nd annual softball tournament, and that they will be selling beer at Wheeler Field only on Saturday and Sunday. Officer Christensen stated that there have been no problems with this tournament. There being no further discussion, Mr. McKinnon moved THAT THE APPLICATION OF COPASETIC SOFTBALL TEAM, WHEELER FIELD, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 22 & 23, 2000, WITH PAUL KING, MANAGER, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Carlson seconded the motion, and it was unanimously approved.

**DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 8 & 9, 2000, WITH DARRELL ECKENBERG, MANAGER.

Darrell Eckenberg was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Eckenberg stated that this is the sixth annual MGD Classic softball tournament being held at Wheeler Field, and that they will be selling beer on Saturday and Sunday. Officer Christensen stated that he has no problem with this application. There being no further discussion, Mr. Hendrickson moved that THE APPLICATION OF DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 8 & 9, 2000, WITH DARRELL ECKENBERG, MANAGER, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Levey seconded the motion, and it was unanimously approved.

**DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 16 - 29, 2000, WITH SANDY ARMSTRONG, MANAGER.

John Vaydich was present on behalf of these applications. Mr. Vaydich explained that they will be hold a state men's B softball tournament the first weekend in August, then the Air Guard tournament on the 16th through the 20th, and then the city playoffs start on August 21 and they would like to sell beer through the 29th. To questioning from the board, Mr. Smedberg replied that an on sale temporary 3.2 beer license can be for 14 days. Officer Christensen stated that he has no problem with these applications. There being no further discussion, Mr. Levey moved that the APPLICATIONS OF DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, WHEELER FIELD, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 4 - 6, 2000, AND AUGUST 16-29, 2000, WITH SANDY ARMSTRONG, MANAGER, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. McKinnon seconded the motion, and it was unanimously approved.

**WOODLAND FASTPITCH ASSOC. (JIMMY HEROLD MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT), ANOKA & WOODLAND AVENUE - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 8 & 9, 2000, WITH BRETT KLOSOWSKI, MANAGER.

Brett Klosowski was present on behalf of the application. Mr.Klosowski stated that this is their 9th annual tournament being held at the Woodland Fastpitch field. He continued saying that they have a beer garden area sectioned off by snow fencing and sell beer from 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday and on Sunday from noon to 7 pm. To the Board's questioning, Officer Christensen replied that there have been no complaints from the neighborhood on this event, and their security checks ID's before selling beer. There being no further discussion, Mr. McKinnon moved THAT THE APPLICATION OF WOODLAND FASTPITCH ASSOC. (JIMMY HEROLD MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT), ANOKA & WOODLAND AVENUE, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE NONINTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 8 & 9, 2000, WITH BRETT KLOSOWSKI, MANAGER, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL.
