RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF THE OFF SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FROM VIETRI CORPORATION (CAPRI BOTTLE SHOP), 1603 WOODLAND AVENUE, TO J & H OF DULUTH, INC. (UNIVERSITY LIQUOR), SAME ADDRESS.

BY COUNCILOR EDWARDS:

BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby approves the transfer of the following off sale intoxicating liquor license for the period ending August 31, 2000, subject to departmental approvals, the payment of sales and property taxes, and further subject to approval of the liquor control commissioner:

J & H of Duluth, Inc. (University Liquors), 1603 Woodland Avenue, with John DeCaro, 50 percent stockholder, and Howie Krenzen, 50 percent stockholder, transferred from Vietri Corporation (Capri Bottle Shop), same address.

Alcohol, Gambling, Tobacco Commission discussion 6/13/00:  John DeCaro was present on behalf of the application.  Mr. DeCaro stated that they are in the process of buying this liquor store and would like to be start business on July 1.  To the board's inquiry, Mr. DeCaro replied that he has had some experience with selling liquor, but his brother will be the manager of the liquor store who has 15 years experience in the liquor business.  Officer Christensen stated that he has no problem with this transfer, and once the license is ready to be issued, he will meet with the owners and manager and go over the rules and regulations of selling alcohol.  There being no further discussion, Mr. Carlson moved that THE APPLICATION OF J & H OF DULUTH, INC, (UNIVERSITY LIQUORS), 1603 WOODLAND AVENUE , FOR TRANSFER OF THE OFF SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE PERIOD ENDING AUGUST 31, 2000, WITH JOHN DECARO, 50% STOCKHOLDER, AND HOWIE KRENZEN, 50% STOCKHOLDER, TRANSFERRED FROM VIETRI CORPORATION, (CAPRI BOTTLE SHOP), SAME ADDRESS, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL.  Mr. Levey seconded the motion, and it was unanimously approved.
