RESOLUTION ACCEPTING UP TO $95,610 UNDER THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR EXPENDITURES RELATED TO POLICE PERSONNEL EXPENSES, TECHNOLOGY AND CRIME PREVENTION TRAINING AND INITIATIVES FOR THE PERIOD JUNE 1, 2000, TO MAY 31, 2002.

BY COUNCILOR STENBERG:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to accept a grant of $95,610 from the U.S. department of justice local law enforcement block grant program to improve public safety and reduce crime.  Grant revenues shall be deposited in Fund 215.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution accepts grant money from the U.S. department of justice to implement the local law enforcement block grant program.  The grant requires a $10,623 match.  The grant program provides funds to underwrite projects to reduce crime and improve public safety.  This is the fourth consecutive year that the city has participated in this grant.  The grant money is allocated as follows:  $92,233 technology and personnel, $14,000 crime prevention.
