RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT $2,000 FROM THE CONCRETE PAVING ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA TOWARD THE FUNDING OF A STUDY OF GRANITOID STREETS.

BY PRESIDENT GILBERT:

WHEREAS, funding in an amount of $6,500 has been made available from the Minnesota historical society for the study of preserving these historic granitoid concrete streets in Duluth; and

WHEREAS, the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota has offered to provide the local share amount of $2,000 needed toward the study; and

WHEREAS, this study is expected to answer some of the difficult questions remaining regarding the significance of retaining these streets locally, regionally and nationally; and

WHEREAS, the heritage preservation commission has recommended that these streets be designated a local landmark district and preserved and maintained in their historical condition into the foreseeable future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that proper city officials be authorized to accept the offer of $2,000 from the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota, such funds to be deposited in Fund 100, Agency 015, Org 2020, Activity 4654.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The acceptance of this grant from the Concrete Paving Association will provide the local share of funding toward the requirement of accepting the $6,500 CLG grant from the Minnesota historical society.
