RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000 FROM AND ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET (THE STATE) WHICH REQUIRES A CITY CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,800 RELATING TO THE LINCOLN PARK HABITAT ENHANCEMENT PROJECT.

BY PRESIDENT GILBERT:

RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth hereby accepts a grant in the amount of $20,000 from the state for the Lincoln Park habitat enhancement project, to be deposited into Fund 262, Agency 020, Org. 2600, Revenue Source 4702.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement substantially in the form of that on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. __________________, with the state under which the city will receive a $20,000 grant for the Lincoln Park habitat enhancement project and further authorizing a nonstate contribution to the project in the amount of $21,300, payable from Fund 262, Agency 623, Object 6309.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the city to accept a grant from the state of Minnesota through the department of natural resources, office of management and budget, for the Lincoln Park habitat enhancement project which involves the planting of new plants and trees to restore natural plant communities reforestation, wetland protection, establishment of native plant buffer strips along Miller Creek and protection of water quality, soil abatement and the elimination of invasive exotic species in Lincoln city park at 25th Avenue West and Third Street to Skyline Parkway.

This resolution also authorizes an agreement with the state. The agreement requires a nonstate contribution in the amount of $21,300 which is being paid for out of the community development fund.
