RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH NORTHEAST MINNESOTA OFFICE OF JOB TRAINING (NEMOJT) FOR PROVISION OF DISLOCATED WORKER SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $369,640.

RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. __________________, with Northeast Minnesota office of job training for the provision dislocated worker services pursuant to the workforce investment act and Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 268 for the period July 1, 2000, to June 30, 2001, at costs not to exceed $369,640, of which $108,897 shall be payable from Fund 268, Budget Item 6241 and $260,743 shall be payable out of Fund 268, Budget Item 6242.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the workforce development division to contract with Northeast Minnesota office of job training ("NEMOJT") to provide services to dislocated workers in the city of Duluth under state and federal programs designed to assist them in finding new employment which meets their needs and utilizes their potential.

The services would include an intake evaluation process to determine their needs and skills, assistance in locating suitable new employment and training, where appropriate to help them ti into the changing job market.

NEMOJT is well situated by training and availability to provide these services to Duluth's dislocated workers and their election to provide them has been approved by the workforce council. Costs may not exceed $360,640 ($108,897 with Federal funds and $260,743 in state program funds). The contract will run from July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2001.

Any costs incurred under this agreement will be payable out of Fund 268, Budget Item 6241 for the federal program and Fund 268, Budget Item 6242 for the state program.
