RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A $31,500 GRANT FROM MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES COASTAL PROGRAM FOR WETLANDS INVENTORY.

BY PRESIDENT GILBERT:

WHEREAS, a high priority has been placed on the development of a comprehensive natural resources inventory in the city; and

WHEREAS, a more complete inventory of wetlands has been identified as a critical element of the inventory; and

WHEREAS, the city council authorized Resolution 00-0229, submission of a grant application on April 10, 2000; and

WHEREAS, the city has successfully applied for and been offered a $31,500 coastal management grant as a part of a $45,000 project to more precisely delineate the wetlands.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the $31,500 grant, such funds to be deposited in Fund 100, Ag. 020, Org.1202, Obj. 4230.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the acceptance of a $31,500 grant to update the wetlands inventory of the city.  Last April the natural resources inventory committee, sponsored by the environmental advisory council, recommended submission of a $31,500 grant application as another segment of the natural resources inventory to the Minnesota DNR under the coastal management program.  That recommendation was approved by the city council at that time.  These federal dollars (70 percent) will be matched with $13,500 of local funds (30 percent).
