RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT TO ST LOUIS COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR APPROXIMATELY 33,600 HOT MEALS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS OF ITS CONTRACT OF $3.60 PER MEAL FOR ELIGIBLE SENIOR CITIZENS AND $4.15 PER MEAL FOR GUESTS FROM JANUARY 1, 2001, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2001, WITH AN ADDITIONAL $0.28 PER MEAL WHEN MEAL SITE MANAGER LABOR IS INCLUDED; COST APPROXIMATELY $126,500.

        WHEREAS, the St Louis County social services department hereby is awarded a contract for furnishing approximately 33,600 hot meals for eligible senior citizens and guests at two St Louis County facilities located in Duluth for a 12 month period for the senior dining division in accordance with specifications of its proposal of $3.60 per meal for eligible senior citizens, $4.15 per meal for guests, and an additional $0.28 per meal for dining room management provided at Lincoln Park, or approximately $126,500, payable out of Federal Program Fund 272, Dept/Agency 031, Organization 6301, Activity SD04, Object 0071.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the continuation of Agreement 18615, to provide approximately 33,600 meals for eligible senior citizens and guests at St Louis County senior centers (Rainbow and Lincoln Park). The county supplies all food, supplies, and staff to prepare and serve meals and to cleanup the kitchen and dining room areas for the city's senior dining program. The county also provides labor for meal site manager functions at the Lincoln Park Center. The city provides staff at the Rainbow Senior Center to manage the meal site and supervise volunteers. The Rainbow Senior Center has been a location for a senior dining meal site since 1973. The Lincoln Park Center (formerly the West End Senior Center) has been a location for a senior dining meal site since 1980. Their cost of $3.60 and $4.15 per meal is the first increase in three years.
