RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND ITS CONFIDENTIAL BARGAINING UNIT FOR YEARS 2000, 2001, 2002.

BY COUNCILOR HOGG:

        BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement a collective bargaining agreement between the city and Union of Needle Trades, Industrial and Technical Employees Local 150, representing the confidential bargaining unit for years 2000, 2001, 2002; the contract to contain the terms and conditions of the contract on file with the city clerk as Public Document No. ___________________, though insubstantial changes in wording or typographical corrections may be made.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The confidential unit contains five employees. The parties have negotiated and reached an agreement essentially the same as that of the basic unit. Significant changes from the 1999 contract are:
1. Wage increase of 1.5% for 2000, 4% for 2001, and 4% for 2002.

2. Increase in employer contribution to family health coverage per month of $40 for plan 2 and $60 for plan 3 in 2000; $40 for plan 2 and $50 for plan 3 in 2001; $40 for plan 2 and $50 for plan 3 in 2002. No increase for plan 1.

3. Increase in employer contribution to deferred compensation per month of $25 for plan 1, $25 for plan 2, $25 for plan 3 for 2000; $25 for plan 1, $25 for plan 2, $35 for plan 3 for 2001; $25 for plan 1, $25 for plan 2, $35 for plan 3 for 2002.

4. More specifically define requirements for retiree health insurance and provide that new hires retire on plan 3 only.
