RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR TIME EXTENSION OF THE AGREEMENT FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN THE CITY.

BY COUNCILOR NESS:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with the Minnesota department of natural resources, which is on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ______________, which will extend the time for the city to expend existing snowmobile trail grant monies until March 3, 2002.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The last three snowmobile seasons have been marked by much less than average snowfall. As a result, the city has not used as much money for snowmobile trail grooming (which is subcontracted to local snowmobile clubs) as it normally would. This contract extension for our DNR snowmobile grant agreement gives the city an extra year to spend monies (a little over $20,000) already allocated to us. If this extension weren't granted, the city would lose the money after March 3, 2001.
