BY COUNCILOR STOVER:

        RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth accepts a grant of not to exceed $10,000 from the Minnesota department of public safety pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 299C.065, subdivision 1, for partial reimbursement of the city's costs in the Eric Schrieffer homicide investigation; said funds to be deposited in Fund 0100, Agency 200, Org. 1620, Revenue Source 4230;

        RESOLVED FURTHER, that the chief of police is authorized to file any reports or execute any agreements necessary for said grant.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  Minnesota Statutes Section 299C.065, subdivision 1, authorizes the commissioner of public safety to award grants "for partial reimbursement of local costs associated with unanticipated, intensive, long-term, multi-jurisdictional criminal investigations that exhaust available local resources . . ." The Eric Schrieffer homicide investigation meets these criteria, and Duluth was awarded a grant of not to exceed $10,000. This resolution also authorizes the chief of police to file necessary reports incident to the grant.
