RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE DULUTH HRA FOR POLICE SERVICES RELATING TO THE FEDERAL DRUG ELIMINATION GRANT PROGRAM IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $110,000.
RESOLVED that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute
a drug elimination grant with the Duluth housing and redevelopment authority
for an amount not to exceed $110,000 relating to implementation of a federal
drug elimination grant program, which documents are on file in the office
of the city clerk as Public Document No. ______________; grant monies shall
be deposited in Fund 0215, Agency 200, Org. 2437, Revenue Source 4255.
The grant is in an amount not to exceed $110,000. The grant period begins January 1, 2001 and ends December 31, 2001 and supports two full time salaried police officer positions. This grant is the continuation of over six years of cooperation between HRA and the police department in the on-going effort to improve the quality of life in our community. Specifically, this grant will allow the police department to provide additional safety and security services to residents of Harbor View Homes and Tri-Towers building. Officers will work to strengthen the relationship between residents and the police department by conducting programs such as personal safety seminars, crime prevention training, and continue to administer successful projects such as the Harbor View citizens patrol. Community officers to work closely with residents in our on-going effort to improve the quality of life of our neighborhoods.
