BY COUNCILOR GILBERT:
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000
WITH THE YWCA.
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter
into a community development block grant (CDBG) program agreement in the
amount of $50,000, substantially in the form of the copy on file in the
office of the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, with YWCA,
payable from 2000 Federal Program 262, Agency 623, Obj. 6336.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to implement a 2000 CDBG childcare program
by authorizing an agreement with the YWCA of Duluth (YWCA). The YWCA will
provide childcare services for mall area employees. Additionally, Cirrus
Corporation will have one third of the number of slots available for its
employees. The YWCA will establish a center temporarily in the Eastridge
Community Church until a permanent site is secured. The YWCA primarily
needs start-up funds and will not seek ongoing operational funding. The
community development committee (CDC) for the CDBG program passed a resolution
recommending the transfer of funds to the YWCA at its April 24, 2001, meeting.
