RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A LICENSING AGREEMENT WITH CANADA STAINED GLASS LIMITED AND PROVIDING FOR PROCEEDS THEREOF TO BE DEPOSITED INTO THE MUNICIPAL ARTS FUND.

BY COUNCILOR NESS:

        RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a licensing agreement, substantially in the form of the copy on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ____________, with Canada Stained Glass Limited.

        FURTHER RESOLVED, that all proceeds received from the above-referenced licensing agreement will be deposited in the municipal arts fund, Fund 0745.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize a licensing agreement with Canada Stained Glass Limited (Canada) which has been in the business of reproducing stained glass windows for 20 years. Under the agreement, Canada would reproduce stained glass replicas of a Tiffany window entitled Greysolon DuLhut which is owned by the city and currently housed at the St. Louis Heritage and Arts Center. The city will receive a royalty fee of four precent of the gross sales of the reproduced item. The resolution also authorizes the royalties to be deposited into the municipal arts fund which is established in the treasury of the city for the purpose of assisting the funding of fine arts in Duluth. The monies in this fund will be expended as directed by Duluth public arts commission.
