RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTHEAST MINNESOTA OF JOB TRAINING (NEMOJT) FOR PROVISION OF DISLOCATED WORKER SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,190.

BY COUNCILOR FENA:

        RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, with the northeast Minnesota office of job training for the provision of dislocated worker services pursuant to the workforce investment act and Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 268 for the period July 1, 2001, to December 31, 2001, at costs not to exceed $68,190 which shall be payable from Fund 268, Budget Item 6249.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this is to authorize the workforce development division to contract with Northeast Minnesota office of job training (NEMOJT) to provide services to dislocated workers in the city of Duluth under state and federal programs designed to assist them in finding new employment which meets their needs and utilizes their potential.

The services include an intake evaluation process to determine applicants needs and skills, assistance in locating suitable employment and training, where appropriate, to help them tie into the changing job market. Any costs incurred will be charged to Fund 268, Budget Item 6249.
