RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR A $1,500 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS GRANT.

BY COUNCILOR STOVER:

        WHEREAS, the state of Minnesota has been given a grant by the U.S. department of transportation under the hazardous materials emergency preparedness (HMEP) program; and

        WHEREAS, the city of Duluth has applied in good faith for HMEP monies for a full scale exercise;

        NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are authorized to execute the grant agreement filed as Public Document No. _________, and city of Duluth fully agrees to the terms of the grant and officially requests the division of emergency management to enforce the contract in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.

        RESOLVED FURTHER, that any grant monies received shall be deposited in General Fund 0100, Agency 100, Division 1505.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the execution of a $1,500 grant agreement with the Minnesota department of public safety, emergency response commission, to partially reimburse the city expenses incurred in conducting a full scale hazardous materials emergency preparedness training exercise.
