RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT TO HUMES PLUMBING AND HEATING TO CONSTRUCT STORM DRAINS TO DISCHARGES FROM SIX SUMP PUMPS IN WEST FOURTH STREET IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,026.41.

BY COUNCILOR ECKENBERG:

RESOLVED, that Humes Plumbing and Heating be and hereby is awarded a contract to construct storm drains to accept discharges from six sump pumps discharges located in West Fourth Street for the utility operations division in accordance with specifications on its low specification bid of $27,026.41, terms net 30, FOB job site, payable out of Stormwater Utility Fund 0535, Dept./Agency 500, Organization 1905, Object 5533.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the construction of storm drains to accept discharges from six residential sump pumps located in West Fourth Street at the following addresses: 4307 West Fourth Street; 4309 West Fourth Street; 4311 West Fourth Street; 4313 West Fourth Street; 4315 West Fourth Street; 4317 West Fourth Street by Humes Plumbing & Heating for $27,026.41 to be paid from Stormwater Utility Fund 0535. These six homes on Fourth Street have been contributing significant I&I flow into the sanitary sewer system. Discharging the clear water from the sump pumps by gravity into the existing 18 inch storm sewer will reduce or resolve their drainage problems and winter time icing. Additional work was necessary when the contractor discovered a common sanitary sewer conflicting with the storm drains between 4315 West Fourth Street and 4317 West Fourth Street. The homeowners and the city agreed to split the cost of the required work. Additional work to cap the sewer at 3219 West Fourth Street was also necessary. Humes Plumbing & Heating was the lowest of the three companies who responded. The uncommitted funds in Object 5533 is $197,638. Bid No. 01-0472
