RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A PRIVATE
SECTOR INITIATIVES GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL SENIOR CITIZENS EDUCATION &
RESEARCH CENTER (N.S.C.E.R.C.) IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,303 FOR A SENIOR EMPLOYMENT
PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD JULY 5, 2001, THROUGH JUNE 30, 2002.
RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept on
behalf of the city of Duluth, pursuant to the laws of Minnesota, 1967,
Chapter 374, a national senior citizens education and research center (N.S.C.E.R.C.)
public sector initiatives grant in the amount of $4,303 for the period
July 5, 2001, through June 30, 2002. A copy of this agreement is on file
in the city clerk's office as Public Document No. _______________________.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that amounts received pursuant to this grant be deposited
in Fund 270, Budget Item 6345.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The
purpose of this resolution is to allow proper city officials to accept
an private sector initiatives grant from the National Senior Citizens Education
& Research Center (N.S.C.E.R.C.), in the amount of $4,303 for a senior
employment program to be operated from July 5, 2001, through June 30, 2002.
This private sector initiative grant will be used to fund classroom training,
on-the-job training, work experience, and job development activities, and
place them in private sector employment. Funds will provide six eligible
Duluth residents age 55 and older private sector initiatives employment
and training services. Funds are allocated under Title V of the Older
American Act and will cover a portion of the tuition, books, fees, participants'
wages, uniforms and job development, and will be deposited in Fund 270,
Budget Item 6345.
