RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CONSULTANT AGREEMENT WITH LHB ENGINEERS & ARCHITECTS FOR PROVIDING CERTAIN PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO THE CITY OF DULUTH IN CONNECTION WITH THE GRASSY POINT TRAIL, PHASE I, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $24,116.

BY PRESIDENT EDWARDS:

        RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to enter into a consultant agreement with LHB Engineers & Architects for the sum of not to exceed $24,116, from Capital Fund 450, Ag. 015, Org. 2001, Obj. C117, for providing certain professional services to the city of Duluth in connection with Grassy Point Trail, Phase I, said services and payment therefore to be substantially as outlined in the agreement on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ________.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: this resolution would authorize a consultant agreement with LHB for providing professional landscape architecture, survey and engineering services in connection with Grassy Point Trail, Phase I. This trail is the continuation of the Keene Creek Trail, which the City constructed in 1998, funded in part by an ISTEA enhancement grant. The new trail extends the Keene Creek Trail through the marshes of Grassy Point to a fishing platform and birding observation deck. This design contract is funded via a grant received by the City (Resolution 01-0562) from the Beneficiary Group for Environmental Improvement. Trail extension construction is scheduled for the winter of 2001-2002. This design contract is hourly in an amount not to exceed $24,116. After approval of this design contract resolution, $125,000 remains in this C.I.P. line item.
