RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT TO MORTON SALT DIVISION C/O HALLETT DOCK COMPANY FOR ROAD SALT IN THE AMOUNT OF $302,200.

BY COUNCILOR ECKENBERG:

        RESOLVED, that Morton Salt Division c/o Hallett Dock Company be and hereby is awarded a contract for furnishing road salt for year 2001/2002 winter season for the maintenance operations division in accordance with specifications on its low specification bid of $302,200, terms net, FOB destination, payable out of General Fund 0100, Dept./Agency 500, Organization 2000, Object 5233.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution will authorize the purchase of road salt from Morton Salt Division c/o Hallet Dock Company for 10,000 tons @ $30.22 per ton for a total of $302,200 to be paid from General Fund 0100.   Approximately 3,920 tons of salt will be purchased during the remainder of year 2001, totally approximately $118,500.   Current year 2001 unencumbered balance in 100-500-2000-5233 is $118,754.   Salt to be purchased in year 2002 totals 6,080 tons ($183,700) and is in accord with the spending plan for this object. Morton Salt Division c/o Hallet Dock Company was awarded the St. Louis County road salt requirements for year 2001/2002 winter season.   The city of Duluth is purchasing off the cooperative purchasing agreement between St.Louis County and the city of Duluth.   Requisition No. 01-0658; St. Louis County Bid # 4236
