RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT TO UTILITY SYSTEMS OF AMERICA, INC., FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF LIFT STATIONS NUMBER 22 AND NUMBER 41 IN THE AMOUNT OF $278,701.50.

BY COUNCILOR ECKENBERG:

        RESOLVED, that Utility Systems of America, Inc., be and hereby is awarded a contract for reconstruction of Lift Station Number 22 located at Walnut Street and Lift Station Number 41 located at Joshua Avenue and Ideal Street for the sewer division in accordance with specifications on its low specification bid of $278,701.50, terms net 30, FOB job site, payable out of Sewer Construction Bond Fund 0531, Dept./Agency 500, Object 5532.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution will authorize the reconstruction of Lift Station #22 located at Walnut Street and the reconstruction of Lift Station #41 located at Joshua Avenue and Ideal Street by Utility Systems of America, Inc., for $278,701.50 to be paid from Sewer Construction Bond Fund 0531.  Lift Station #22 is a factory built steel station built in 1970.  Its capacity is inadequate to handle wet weather flow.  Overloads occur resulting in many damage claims.  Lift Station #41 is a wet well mounted type station (dog house) constructed in 1976.  Its poor design, age and maintenance history warrants replacement.  Utility Systems of America was the lowest of the six companies who responded.  The estimated cost of this project was $335,415.  The unobligated funds in Object 5532 is $543,317.  Bid No. 01-0677; Job Nos. 9196SA00 and 9174SA00
