RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A $25,509.28 SUBGRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TO BE USED TO REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR STORM RELATED DAMAGE COSTS AT THE ENGER PARK GOLF COURSE.

BY COUNCILOR ECKENBERG:

        RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to accept a $25,509.28 subgrant from the Minnesota department of public safety, division of emergency management, acting in conjunction with the federal emergency management agency, and to execute the subgrant contract, attached hereto as Public Document No. ________, for the city of Duluth storm cleanup costs at the Enger Park golf course as a result of the April 2001 ice storm.

        RESOLVED FURTHER, that grant monies accepted pursuant to this resolution shall be deposited into General Fund 0100, Agency 500, Org. 1920.



STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution accepts a subgrant of $25,509.28 from the emergency management division of the Minnesota department of public safety to FEMA in conjunction with reimbursement to the city for tree removal and trimming at the Enger Park golf course.  The April 2001 ice storm caused storm damage on 18 holes of the course with some trees uprooted and many branches broken.  This grant will reimburse the city for extraordinary personnel and equipment costs incurred in the cleanup.
