BY PRESIDENT STAUBER:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement a contract, containing substantially the terms of that contract on file with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, with Minnesota department of administration providing that the city building official is authorized to administer building and life safety codes that apply to public buildings and state licensed facilities, as set out in M.S.A. §16B.60 and §16B.65, and collect fees therefore.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The state law reserves to the state the jurisdiction to inspect plans and buildings to determine if a state building or public building complies with building codes. This resolution authorizes a contract whereby that jurisdiction is transferred to the city. Currently, the state authorizes the city to do this work on a case by case basis. The city will be able to collect significant fees as a result of this contract.
