BY COUNCILOR LITTLE:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to enter into a software license agreement with the city of Minneapolis, county of Hennepin, state of Minnesota, providing for utilization of an automated pawn system service; said agreement to be substantially in the form of and containing substantially the conditions of Public Document No. ____________ on file in the office of the city clerk; and to make payments pursuant to said agreement, revenues to be deposited in General Fund 0100-200-1610-4343 and payments to be made from General Fund 0100-200-1610-5437.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a software license agreement with the city of Minneapolis, which allows the city of Duluth, as a licensee, to take advantage of the automated pawn system service which has been developed and maintained by the Minneapolis police department. The city council has recently established a fee which will be charged by pawn shops for items sold through pawn shops. That fee includes a data collection and maintenance fee of $1.00, which will be paid to the city of Minneapolis for transactions. The remainder of the fee will be kept by the city to cover the cost under this agreement for setup and training of the software for use by the Duluth police department, as well as on-going monthly compliance checks of randomly chosen pawned items.
