RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CONSULTANT AGREEMENT WITH MELANDER, MELANDER, AND SCHILLING/ARCHITECTS FOR PROVIDING CERTAIN DESIGN SERVICES TO THE CITY OF DULUTH IN CONNECTION WITH THE DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE REVITALIZATION/PHASE II IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $7,800.

BY COUNCILOR NESS:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to enter into a consultant agreement with Melander, Melander, and Schilling, Architects, for the sum of not to exceed $7,800, from Fund 0100, Agency 700, Organization 2705, Object C223, for providing certain design services to the city of Duluth in connection with Downtown streetscape revitalization/Phase II, said services and payment therefore to be substantially as outlined in the agreement on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. ______.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution would authorize a consultant agreement with Melander, Melander, and Schilling for design services related to Downtown streetscape revitalization Phase II, in an amount of $7,800. This project, a partnership with the Greater Downtown Council (GDC) and Downtown business owners, is an effort to revitalize the Downtown Business District. Melander, Melander, and Schilling will prepare bidding documents for the repainting and relighting of six Downtown skywalks in a similar fashion to the Skywalk between the Holiday Inn and the North Shore Bank of Commerce that was completed in 2003 (Phase I). This Phase II work is in an approved 2003 C.I.P. project.
