RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF CERTAIN TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IN LOWER PIEDMONT HEIGHTS FOR $10,894.65 FOR THE TRINITY ROAD HIGH PRESSURE GAS LINE RELOCATION.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorised to purchase Lots 1-9, Block 1, Lincoln Park Terrace (010-2920-00010 and 00060) from the state of Minnesota for the amount of $10,894.65, payable from Fund 0521, Agency 500, Object 5532.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purchase of this property is necessitated due to the reconstruction of Trinity Road by Mn/DOT and the need to relocate a ten inch high pressure natural gas line. The decision to purchase this property rather than requesting a free conveyance is due to Mn/DOT's future interest in acquiring a portion of this property for the Trinity Road reconstruction. Since the gas line relocation work must commence no later than June 1, 2004, while Mn/DOT will not begin their acquisition work until mid-summer 2004, the city's needs are best served by acquiring unrestricted fee ownership via purchase from the state. Once acquired, and the gas line relocation work is completed, the city will negotiate directly with Mn/DOT concerning their acquisition needs sometime after September 1, 2004.
