BY COUNCILOR NESS:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement a collective bargaining agreement with the Local 101 International Association of Firefighters, containing the same terms and conditions, and being in the same form (except for typographical or insubstantial corrections) as the contract on file with the city clerk as Public Document No. ____________, covering the year 2003.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The police, fire and supervisory bargaining units came to agreement to jointly negotiate new contracts. The first negotiation between the joint bargaining units and city management began on July 8, 2002. Negotiations proceeded thorough 2002 and 2003.
As negotiations proceeded after January 1, 2004, it was determined that the best course of action would be to agree to a one year contract for 2003 and further negotiate a three year contract to cover 2004 through 2006.
The contract for 2003 provides a $500 lump sum payment to active employees that had family health coverage for six or more months in 2003. All other items remained the same as in the 2000-2002 contract, with pay being at the 2002 level.
The estimated additional expense is $19,000.
