RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A TERRORISM PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT FOR AN INTEROPERABLE RADIO COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, HOMELAND SECURITY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION IN THE AMOUNT OF 305,485.

BY COUNCILOR LITTLE:

RESOLVED, that the city council hereby authorizes city staff to submit an application a grant for a terrorism prevention program grant for an interoperable radio system in the amount of $305,485 to the Minnesota department of public safety, homeland security emergency management division (department of public safety).

FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon award of said grant, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the grant from the department of public safety in an amount up to $305,485, said monies to be deposited into Fund 0215.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city official are hereby authorized to execute any and all documents or agreements necessary to effectuate said grant.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize application of a grant from the department of public safety for an interoperable radio communications system in the amount of $305,485. The money would be used for communication towers, interoperable radios, repeaters and mobile units and would take steps towards implementing the State goal of having a statewide interoperable radio communications system. If a grant award is made, this resolution also authorizes acceptance of the same.
