BY COUNCILOR LITTLE:
RESOLVED, that the city council hereby authorizes city staff to submit an application for a terrorism prevention program grant for exercise and training in the amount of $100,170 to the Minnesota department of public safety, homeland security emergency management division (department of public safety).
FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon award of said grant, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the grant from the department of public safety in an amount up to $100,170, said monies to be deposited into Fund 0215.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city official are hereby authorized to execute any and all documents or agreements necessary to effectuate said grant.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize application for a grant from the department of public safety in the amount of $100,170 for terrorism prevention exercise and training. If awarded, the grant will pay for overtime pay and planning costs associated with exercises to prepare for, coordinate and respond to terrorist attacks. The training may be done in conjunction with the St. Louis County Emergency response team and may include exercises at the Port, the International Airport, the Courthouse and other critical structures in the region. Classroom training will be provided as well. If a grant award is made, this resolution also authorizes acceptance of the same.
