RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF ASSESSOR OFFICE COORDINATOR.

BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:

RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the civil service classification of assessor office coordinator, which were approved by the civil service board on May 4, 2004, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. __________, are approved. This classification shall remain subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees and compensated at Pay Range 131.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The job description was updated as the result of an audit of the single incumbent position. Over time, the duties of the position have increased in scope and complexity. Some of the new duties performed include exemption status qualification determinations and processing splits and combinations of legal descriptions, tasks that were previously performed by appraisers. Based on the additional duties, the pay rate was negotiated with the union, and increased from Range 129 to Range 131. That negotiated change was approved as part of the 2004-2006 contract.
