RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH TERRY T. MILLER FOR LEASE OF A BUILDING AT 1617 SOUTH STREET IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,400.

BY COUNCILOR STOVER:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into an agreement in substantially the form of that on file in the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. with Terry T. Miller for the lease of approximately 1,800 square feet of warehouse space in a building located at 1617 South Street for a term of six months per year for not to exceed five years at a cost of not to exceed $2,400 per year; payable from General Fund 0100-500-2010-5419.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the continued leasing of approximately 1,800 square feet of space in a warehouse building located at 1617 South Street for six months per year for up to five years for the purpose of storing supplies and equipment related to the maintenance of the rose garden for the summer season. These items had previously been stored in the Armory building but, with its conveyance to the Armory Arts and Music Center, replacement space was needed for the summer to house the materials and equipment that would be used to maintain the rose garden.

The city leased this building during the summer of 2003 for this purpose at the same lease rate. The building worked well for the intended purposes and the city continues to need convenient storage in the area to service Leif Erickson Park and the rose garden. Mr. Miller is willing to make this part of the building available to the city on the same terms every summer and fall for five years.

This resolution authorizes the leasing of a portion of the warehouse building owned by Mr. Miller at a lease rate equal to $400 per month from June 1 through November 30 of 2004 and, at the city’s option, the leasing of this space each succeeding summer and fall through 2009.
