RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH JOB SERVICES FOR THE PROVISION OF DISLOCATED WORKER SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $73,339 FOR THE FEDERAL PROGRAM AND $185,387 FOR THE STATE PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH JUNE 30, 2005.

BY COUNCILOR ATKINS:

     RESOLVED, that proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of that on file with the office of the city clerk as Public Document No. _________, with Job Service for the provision of dislocated worker services pursuant to the Workforce Investment Act and Minnesota Status, Chapter 268 for the period of July 1, 2004, through June 30, 2005, at costs not to exceed $73,339 for the federal program and $185,387 for the state program which shall be payable from Fund 0268.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the workforce development division to contract with job service to provide services to dislocated workers in the city of Duluth under state and federal programs designed to assist them in finding new employment which meets their needs and utilized their potential.


The serviced include and assessment to determine the applicants needs and skills, assistance in re-training if desired by the applicant, assistance in locating suitable employment, and assistance in navigating the changing job market. Any costs incurred will be charged to Fund 0268.
