REPLACEMENT

RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

 

BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:

     RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of environmental projects coordinator, which were approved by the civil service board on October 5, 2004, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 35. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This classification was created as the result of a job audit of a project coordinator position. The audit showed that the incumbent was performing duties at a level higher than those outlined in the Project coordinator description. Higher level duties include full responsibility and authority to plan and manage environmental projects, including overseeing the work of consultants and contractors, interpreting the technical reports they submit, and negotiating and administering contracts. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 35, $3,968 to $4,731 per month.
