RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE DULUTH DELEGATION TO THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO SECURE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION GRANTING AN ADDITIONAL ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR USE AT THE ENGER PARK GOLF COURSE.

BY COUNCILOR STEWART:

RESOLVED, that the Duluth City Council hereby memorializes the Duluth delegation to the state legislature to secure passage of special legislation authorizing the Duluth City Council to issue an intoxicating on sale liquor license for use on premises known as the Enger Golf Course.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution requests that the Duluth delegation secure passage of special legislation authorizing the Duluth city council to issue an on-sale intoxicating liquor license for use at Enger golf course. The license could not be transferred to another site. The fee for the license would be set by the city council. This legislation is similar to special legislation authorizing on-sale liquor licenses at Spirit Mountain, the DECC and the Duluth Airport. The city council will be responsible for approving any allowed license. Before any license can be approved, City Charter and Code provisions related to the issuance of liquor licenses in or near parks will need to be amended. The ability to serve liquor at Enger golf course will improve the potential for tournaments and other events.
