STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution will remove land from the tax base. It requests the St. Louis County Board of Commissioners classify as conservation certain parcels of land certified in December 2004 as being forfeited due to nonpayment of taxes. A total of 27 parcels became forfeit in 2004. This resolution requests that five be withheld from sale, resulting in the remaining 22 parcels being made available for sale. The planning commission recommends this action based on a detailed review of all 27 parcels, application of standards specified in Minnesota Statutes Chapter 282, and finding specific public purpose provided by the five parcels.

The 27 parcels which became forfeit in 2004 have not generated any tax revenue for the past five years. Approval of this resolution would result in five parcels continuing to not generate tax revenue.
