RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FREE CONVEYANCE OF TAX FORFEITED LAND, LOCATED EAST OF THE LAKEWALK EAST GATE AT 20TH AVENUE EAST AND WATER STREET, FOR THE EXTENSION OF LAKEWALK.

     RESOLVED, that the Saint Louis County Board of Commissioners is hereby requested to free convey to the city of Duluth the following tax forfeited parcel for public recreation and outdoor education area:

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This free conveyance of tax-forfeited land to the city is a public-to-public transfer; therefore, there is no tax base impact at this time. In addition, the land will not be available to join the tax base in the future.

 

This resolution requests that the Saint Louis County Board of Commissioners free-convey the described tax forfeited land for public recreation in the form of the future extension of “Lakewalk” along the shore of Lake Superior from 20th Avenue East to 22nd Avenue East. This request will connect previously granted easements and free conveyances that provide for the extension of “Lakewalk” to 26th Avenue East and London Road. The combined land area of these parcels is 7,250 square feet. The property is unbuildable under the Water Resources Management Ordinance, Chapter 51 of the City Code.

 

The planning commission unanimously recommended approval of this resolution at its June 22, 2005, meeting.
