RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THE ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE OF HISTORIC UNION DEPOT (VETERANS MEMORIAL HALL), 506 WEST MICHIGAN STREET.

BY COUNCILOR STEWART:

     BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby approves the temporary expansion of the designated serving area of the following on sale intoxicating liquor license, subject to departmental approvals, with any specific restrictions:

           Historic Union Depot (Veterans Memorial Hall), 506 West Michigan Street, for August 10, 2005, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 7/6/2005: Greg Hanson was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Hanson explained that they are sponsoring their fourth annual classic car show and a sock hop as a fund raiser for the Veterans Memorial Hall. He continued saying that they will be closing off Michigan Street for the car show from 4-7 p.m. and would like to sell alcohol outside during the event. Mr. Hanson stated that the sock hop will be from 7-11 p.m. and will be inside the Depot. To questioning from the commission, Officer Latour stated that they will need off duty police officers during the event. There being no further discussion, Mr. Karki moved that THE APPLICATION OF HISTORIC UNION DEPOT, (THE DEPOT), 506 WEST MICHIGAN ST, FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THE DESIGNATED SERVING AREA OF THEIR LICENSED PREMISES OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 10, 2005, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Anderson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
