RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT TO VIELE CONTRACTING, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WATER MAIN IN ETHEL AVENUE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $86,210.

 

BY COUNCILOR STOVER:

     RESOLVED, that Viele Contracting, Inc., be and hereby is awarded a contract for construction of 8 inch DIP water main in Ethel Avenue from Springvale Road to 365 feet northerly for the engineering division in accordance with specifications on its low specification bid of $86,210, terms net 30, FOB job site, payable out of Special Assessment Fund 0410, Dept./Agency 038, Object 5530 (City Project SA-0456WA).

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

This resolution will authorize the construction of an 8" DIP water main extension to serve lots on Ethel Avenue from Springvale Road to 365 feet northerly in Lincoln Park Gardens 3rd Division by Viele Contracting, Inc. for $86,210.00 to be paid from the Special Assessments Fund, Special Assessment Contracts, Capital Improvements. 66.67% of the property owners of Lots 6 through 9, Block 1 and Lots 14 and 15, Block 4 of Lincoln Park Gardens 3rd Division petitioned for a water main extension. These property owners own 66.47% of the property to be assessed. The assessed property owners are paying for 100% of the cost of the improvements. A Public Hearing was held on September 14, 2004. The adjacent property owners will be permitted up to 15 years to pay the assessment. Viele Contracting, Inc. was the lowest of the five above companies who responded. The low bid was only 1% above the engineers estimate of $85,000.00 and was less than the Public Hearing estimate of $88,000.
