Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 9/20/2005: Dennis Peterson was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Peterson explained that this is a parent association that is raising money for sport programs at Central High School. He continued saying that they hope to raise money to upgrade the softball equipment and for the softball team to play in Florida in the spring. To questioning from the commission, Mr. Peterson replied that they hope to sell 5,000 tickets at $10 each with several large prizes, and the drawing will be in February 2006. To further questioning from the board, Mr. Peterson replied that Central’s principal is aware of this raffle and has approved of the association conducting the raffle. Mr. Peterson also explained that he is an assistant coach for the softball team, but he is not a part of the organization which is made up of parents. There being no further discussion, Mr. Arne Johnson moved THAT THE 60 DAY WAIVER REQUEST FOR A RAFFLE EXEMPTION PERMIT OF DULUTH CENTRAL SPORTS ASSOCIATION BE APPROVED AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Terry Johnson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
