RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SPECIALIST AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:

     RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of employee benefits specialist, which were approved by the civil service board on June 7, 2005, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 131. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This new job description was created due to the restructuring of work in the human resources division. As a result of this reorganization, the employee benefits specialist will focus on benefit program administration and coordination, and will no longer administer the workers’ compensation program. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 131, $3,205 to $3,789 per month.
