RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SUPERVISOR, REAL PROPERTY, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:

     RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of supervisor, real property, which were approved by the civil service board on June 7, 2005, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its supervisory unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 1080. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.


STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This new classification was created as the result of an audit of the single incumbent position titled associate director, parks maintenance and forestry. The incumbent was transferred from the parks and recreation department to the facilities management division of the administrative services department several years ago to avoid a layoff situation. The audit was performed to determine what duties are now performed by this individual and to create an appropriate classification for those duties. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 1080, $4,452 to $5,455 per month.
