westerly eight feet of Lot 8, Block 10, Homewood Garden Tracts (PID #2290-01050)

eight foot wide strip of Lot 8, east side of North Seventh Avenue East between Plum Street and Kelly Street

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution requests that the Saint Louis County Board of Commissioners free-convey the described tax forfeited land for street and utility purposes.

This eight foot wide strip of Lot 8 was retained in conservation to be added to the right-of-way for North Seventh Avenue East, due to this street’s platted width being less than 66 feet. Free conveyance of this lot will accomplish the purpose for which it was retained.

This request was reviewed by the city planning commission at its regular meeting of Tuesday, February 14, 2006. The commissioners voted unanimously to recommend that the city council request the free conveyance of this property to the city of Duluth.

This free conveyance of tax-forfeited land to the city is a public-to-public transfer; therefore, there is no tax base impact at this time. In addition, the land will not be available to join the tax base in the future.
