BY COUNCILOR NESS:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement a contract, substantially the same as that on file with the city clerk as Public Document No. ___________, between the city and the U.S. department of housing and urban development providing for enforcement of federal civil rights laws and processing of related complaints by the city human rights office and other related matters; no payment by either party.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This is an interim agreement for up to three years. Its approval will qualify the city to seek and receive money under a separate grant agreement. Under the agreement, the city and HUD would cooperate in the processing of civil rights complaints that are received by each, the city would process complaints referred to it by HUD, and the city would be required to take various enforcement actions and follow various procedures.
