BY COUNCILOR KRAUSE:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby approves the temporary expansion of the designated serving area of the following on sale intoxicating liquor licenses, subject to departmental approvals, with any specific restrictions:
Lyric Block Development Corporation (Sneakers/Porters/Greenery), 200 West First Street, for July 12, 2006, for Downtown Sidewalk Days from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and for July 13, 2006, for Rock the Block, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission meeting discussion of 6/7/2006: Michael Hollis was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Hollis explained that their request is also for the car show during Downtown Sidewalk Days on the 12th, and on July 13, the Greater Downtown Council is sponsoring a Rock the Block event with a band on Superior Street. He continued saying for both events they will be setting up their bar in the front of the Lyric from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The clerk reviewed that special events license will close the street to allow the bar to be outside and also allow the people to walk around with their drinks. To questioning from the commission, Mr. Hollis replied that the GDC is working with the police department for the security during the event. There being no further discussion, Mr. Karki moved that THE APPLICATION OF LYRIC BLOCK DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (PORTER’S, SNEAKERS, THE GREENERY), 200 WEST FIRST STREET, FOR TEMPORARY EXPANSION OF THE DESIGNATED SERVING AREA OF THEIR ON SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE FOR JULY 12 AND 13, 2006, BE APPROVED AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Hanson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
