BY COUNCILOR JOHNSON:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of utility accounts receivable specialist, which were approved by the civil service board on April 4, 2006, and which are filed with the city clerk as Public Document No. _____________, are approved; that said classification shall be subject to the city’s collective bargaining unit with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 132. The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The classification has been created to perform field and office work to collect on delinquent utility accounts. This function has been performed by administrative information specialists in the past. A review of this practice indicated that it is in the city’s best interest to have employees trained in collection practices performing this work and that our employees in our clerical series are not interested in performing this work. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 132 - $3,479 to $4,132 per month.
