RESOLUTION ISSUING A TEMPORARY ON SALE 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSE TO DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION AND WALTMAN-TESSIER MEMORIAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT.

BY COUNCILOR KRAUSE:

     BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council of the city of Duluth hereby issues the following temporary on sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license, subject to departmental approvals with any specific restrictions:

           Duluth Softball Players Association, Wheeler Field, for August 19 and 20, 2006, with John Vaydich, manager.

           Waltman-Tessier Memorial Fund (Waltman-Tessier Memorial Tournament), Wheeler Field, for August 25, 26 and 27, 2006, with John McAdamis, manager.


Alcohol, gambling and tobacco commission discussion of 8/2/2006:


DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYER’S ASSOCIATION, INC. WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 19-20, 2006, WITH JOHN VAYDICH, MANAGER.


John Vaydich was present on behalf of the application. Mr. Vaydich explained that DSPA will be hosting a State tournament at Wheeler Field, and that the beer will be sold out of the building built by DSPA for food and beverages and has contracted with a private security company to work during the tournament. Officer Latour stated there have been no problems in the past with this tournament. There being no further discussion, Mr. Anderson moved that THE APPLICATION OF DULUTH SOFTBALL PLAYER’S ASSOCIATION, INC., WHEELER FIELD, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 19-20, 2006, WITH JOHN VAYDICH, MANAGER BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Serre seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.





WALTMAN-TESSIER MEMORIAL FUND, (TESSIER-WALTMAN MEMORIAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT), WHEELER FIELD - APPLICATION FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 25, 26, & 27, 2006, WITH JOHN MCADAMIS, MANAGER.


John McAdamis was present on behalf of the application. He reviewed that this is their 34th annual tournament at Wheeler Field and have had no problems in the past. He continued saying that they will be hiring an off duty police officer to work during the tournament and will have tournament volunteers walking the grounds during the tournament. Officer Latour stated he has approved this application. There being no further discussion, Mr. Hanson moved that THE APPLICATION OF WALTMAN-TESSIER MEMORIAL FUND (TESSIER-WALTMAN MEMORIAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT), WHEELER FIELD, FOR A TEMPORARY ON SALE 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSE FOR AUGUST 25, 26 AND 27, 2006, WITH JOHN MCADAMIS, MANAGER, BE APPROVED, AND THE SAME BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL. Mr. Anderson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
