BY COUNCILOR GILBERT:
RESOLVED, that the state of Minnesota historical society (MNHS)administers United States department of interior funds, for use by certified local governments (CLG), for qualifying historic preservation purposes; and
WHEREAS, the city of Duluth has applied for financial assistance from the MNHS’s CLG grant program, for the purposes of securing professional services to conduct an intensive survey of the city’s east end residential area.
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a CLG grant from the MNHS, in the amount of $4,000 for said professional services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to act as legal sponsor of said grant, to execute any documents required to be executed to accept such grant and to accept a donation of $3,000 from the Duluth Preservation Alliance (DPA). The grant and donation will be accounted for in Fund 210, Agency 030, Organization 3150, revenue sources 4210-02 and 4660.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to accept a $4,000 certified local government(CLG) grant from the Minnesota state historical society (MNHS). These funds will be matched by a $3,000 cash donation from the Duluth Preservation Alliance (DPA)and $1,000 of in-kind match from the city planning department to fund the city’s 50 percent match. The purpose of the grant is to conduct a survey of the city’s east end residential area that contains approximately 23 city blocks on 63 acres.
