RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT TO CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, INC., FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF AN 18 INCH STORM SEWER LINE AT CHESTER PARK BELOW SKYLINE PARKWAY IN THE AMOUNT OF $77,700.

BY COUNCILOR STOVER:

RESOLVED, that Construction Services, Inc., (CSI) be and hereby is awarded a contract for the replacement of 176 feet of 18 inch failed storm sewer pipe below Skyline Parkway at Chester Park for the engineering division in accordance with its low specification bid of $77,700, payable out of Storm Sewer Fund 535, Agency 500, Organization 1905, Object 5533; City Project Number 0615ST.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize the replacement of 176 feet of failed corrugated metal storm pipe below Skyline Parkway on the east side of Chester Park. The existing 18 inch storm line, on a very steep slope above Chester Creek, has failed, causing several hundred tons of embankment to be washed downstream and the felling of 20 - 30 large trees. Recommendation during an onsite meeting with DNR supervisors was that repair work be done as soon as possible to avoid further resource damage. This project was not advertised due to the urgency of preventing severe erosion into Chester Creek. Construction Services, Inc., is the apparent low bidder of five bidders. The engineer’s estimate is $85,000. Project is payable from Storm Sewer Fund 535, Agency 500, Organization 1905, Object 5533.
